We'd told the hotel in advance when we would arrive, but nobody was there when we got in. We waited outside until someone showed up 15 minutes later, at 11 pm. The owner seemed to have driven back from a bar, smelling strongly of cigarettes and alcohol. Once inside, he came to our room asking for 30 euros in cash because I'd accidentally booked for one person instead of two. The room hadn't changed, and it felt like he was shaking us down for extra money. He kept trying to talk to us in Italian, asking things like where we were from, and wouldn't leave even after we repeatedly said we needed to sleep. I finally had to push him out and shut the door. He spoke no English, and there was no shuttle. It was a bad experience.

We felt so unsafe that we booked another hotel and left. Before we could get away, four different Ubers canceled, apparently because the neighborhood is sketchy. At Smallville "B&B," the check-in directions were vague, and neither the front gate nor the building had a lock. Upstairs, it took us a while to find a pile of keys in an unmarked cabinet. The keys weren't explained, and there were mystery doors with signs pointing toward our room. Once we opened the main door, we found there was no lock on our room door, so we had to barricade it with a dresser. The promised extra sofa bed wasn't there either, just one queen bed. This place felt like a scam, and I wouldn't recommend anyone stay here for their safety.

Francesco and his wife were so lovely and thoughtful when I checked in at midnight. The room was large and really nice, and the bathroom was huge too. Breakfast was included. I had a great experience and would always recommend it.

Danny and Franco were amazing hosts, and the rooms were huge and sparkling clean. They offer airport pickup and drop-off for a small fee. The place is in Fiumicino, very close to the airport, rather than in Rome itself. Buses from central Rome to Fiumicino cost just 6 euros. For a visit to Rome, I'd definitely recommend staying here.

The room was beautiful and had a balcony. We stayed for two nights but got breakfast only once. It also wasn't like the breakfast shown in another review, there wasn't even a croissant.
