Masseria San Domenico

Room 401 was spacious and clean, and the hotel food was great, both there and at the beach. The place is lovely and really quiet. The receptionist was always very, very kind. I'd recommend staying here.

With olive orchards all around, this five-star converted masseria made a great base for exploring Puglia. The atmosphere was intimate and the food was amazing. Staff were dedicated and friendly, and they addressed us by name. There was piano entertainment at night before dinner, along with original cocktails.

The olive trees and peaceful atmosphere were lovely, and we enjoyed the Spa. We negotiated a great upgrade, but the stay still felt very overpriced for the location and service, especially without any sea view. We won't return to the region, though it was okay for a short trip. The big olive trees give this luxury agroturismo a nice feel, but it seems a little isolated. The beach is a 20-minute walk away. The sea on this side really isn't nice, and the beaches were full of trash, right behind a busy highway. The hotel is built around a real historic small tower. Rooms are like those in older Italian hotels. At best, the view is of a garden, since you're only on level two and far from the sea. Breakfast was decent, though nothing special for a Leading Hotel, with a view of artificial grass tennis courts at the back of the building. Since summer is VERY hot here, it's better to eat inside. The location is okay, about a 30-minute drive from the few villages you'd want to visit in the region. Don't expect Venice, Rome, or Florence. Ostuni and Polignano are cheap destinations without much culture behind them, while Lecce is farther away and better. Finding a good restaurant is hard, either at the hotel, where the food was very average for Italy, or nearby in this very cheap tourist area.

A beautiful, fairly authentic place with its own history. The staff are kind and attentive to little details, and the bartenders are friendly. Their cocktails were refreshing and delicious. I couldn't try the pool because I visited in November, but I'm pretty sure it's worth visiting in the warm season.
