Hotel Sierra Silvana

We won’t be coming back, unless we decide we want to relive the 1980s. The hotel, its interiors, and outdoor spaces all feel stuck in that 1970s-80s holiday style. There’s a gazebo, and the evening events resemble 1930s parties for today’s retirees. The room size was okay, but the beds were quite hard, the decor was outdated, and the pool was extremely cold. Service was minimal, with no effort beyond what was necessary. At the pool bar, the waiter didn’t want to serve our group of six at the table because there were guests at the bar. Housekeeping was slow too. When we came back to shower during siesta, the room hadn’t been cleaned because we’d “missed our turn.” The cleaners seemed sour and kept repeating the same thing in Italian after we explained we didn’t understand. Mornings were noisy, with everything echoing from the stairwell and loud guests heading to breakfast. Our booking didn’t say beach access would cost an extra €30. The hotel and Hotels.com should be responsible for the incorrect information, but we were left to deal with it. The hotel offered a discount, but I don’t see why I should pay anything when they and their partner gave us the wrong details. That was one of the reasons we chose this hotel. The location is fine if you know you’ll need a car or taxi. Most nearby villages are 15 to 30 minutes away, there’s no supermarket or anything else close by, and there are barely any lunch restaurants.

The staff were very friendly, and the place was clean and quiet. The food was very good too. I recommend it.

The rooms sit in separate blocks, with the layout cleverly giving each one a private balcony. The bar and waiting staff were attentive. Just outside is a pleasant little village with a supermarket, pharmacy, bar and other basics.

We had a lovely stay in one of the Trullo. It was a really nice hotel.
