Hotel Tempo di Mare

The hotel felt a little dated, though we were happy with the service. Be careful about the bike rental arranged through the hotel. We hired electric bikes from an outside company, and the rental guy said he couldn’t take cards, so we paid €30 in cash. He gave us a contract showing the amount. Later, hotel staff helped us understand that the Italian contract actually said payment was due when the bikes were returned. When we brought them back the next day, the same guy said we hadn’t paid and charged us another €30. Since the contract didn’t show that we had paid upfront, we couldn’t prove it and had to pay again. I hope this saves someone else the frustrating experience. If you rent through the hotel, pay only after the rental and don’t hand over cash in advance.

There’s a nice outdoor bar for a nightcap, and the rooms were clean and cozy. They could use a comfortable couch or chair and a drying rack, though. Reception gave us useful tips and booked places for us, and there’s also a free shuttle to an organized beach.

We stayed at Tempo di Mare in early July, as high season was starting, and it felt quite luxurious without being unreasonably priced. The attentive staff made the service excellent. The town center is an easy walk away, and we rented bikes for the beach. Breakfast was delicious, with lots of sweet and savory choices, granita included. We had a wonderful stay and would absolutely recommend it.

The room was pleasant, but smaller than I expected from a 4-star hotel. We were attending a wedding and were surprised that neither we nor our friends could get an iron; instead, we were expected to use the paid laundry service. The price to iron our folded clothes was about the same as buying an iron. To his credit, the receptionist arranged to have our clothes ironed for free when I pointed that out. They also use flimsy disposable plastic cups, which aren’t environmentally friendly. Checkout at 10am felt too early, and although breakfast runs until 10:30am, we were hurried along after eating, as if finishing the morning routine mattered more than guest satisfaction.
