O.T.R ZONE
The cabins felt like a trip back to the 1970s, and the beach needed more care, with grass in places and a rocky ledge down to the sea rather than a gradual way in. It’s a shame, since those things seem very fixable. I debated this review for a long time because there’s plenty to like too. The village sits on a hillside, so the shuttle buses are essential. They’ve added golf carts, and we never waited more than 10 minutes. Staff at reception, the restaurant, bar and shuttles were all extremely kind and helpful, and the entertainment team was friendly and kept the evenings cheerful. We were half-board. Breakfast was basic and repetitive, while dinner always had a choice of first and second courses. The village is a member of the AIC (Italian Celiac Association), so celiacs should be careful. The general lack of care for the campsite’s wildlife also brings the rating down.
Our "Sibilla" house was lovely, especially the little veranda, though vegetation blocked the sea view. I’d recommend thinning it out, since the view is truly stunning. The resort itself is beautiful, arranged in terraces on a green hillside, with the pool, restaurant and performance area at the top. Shuttle buses connect the upper part to the beach, and waits were short, no more than 10 minutes. Staff and entertainment team were friendly and knowledgeable. The sea was beautiful and often clear, with pebbles by the water and sand beyond. The beach had volleyball and soccer fields, showers, bathrooms and a bar/restaurant, but the umbrella area was poorly maintained, like a dirt track with patches of grass. The lido and beach could use improvement, perhaps smoothing the level change at the shore and adding sand or pebbles. Wi-Fi also needs work, since only one person per house can use it at a time.
Good value for money, especially if you don’t expect too much. The village is on a slope, so there are plenty of ups and downs. Food was very good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The sea was beautiful and the beach well equipped. It’s surrounded by greenery, but the village needs renovation, particularly the cabins near Bimbilandia and the Bimbilandia theme park.
