Girasole Camping Village

We came here to relax, but that wasn’t possible. The nearby railway is so disruptive that it feels like sleeping at a train station, with trains going by throughout the day. The area is wild and full of mosquitoes, so you need protection at any time of day. The beach isn’t sandy. It’s a mix of stones in all sizes, with sharp bits of glass and broken shells. The reception staff in particular were unbelievably rude. It felt like they were the guests and I was the host. It’s also almost impossible to find an employee who speaks English. The places you’re given aren’t vacuumed or cleaned by the property, but they don’t provide basic cleaning equipment either. The pool costs extra, yet it was very dirty. No one watched the single slide, so people could go down without waiting for each other. Knowing what I know now, I’d have paid a few hundred more to stay somewhere else.

The restaurant food was a bad joke, and the beach was filthy, covered with seaweed and other garbage. It was noisy close to midnight, with music playing and a train passing just a couple of meters away. After traveling hundreds of kilometers, think carefully about where your money is going. For me, this place was a complete failure. Never again.

The best part was the animation team. They were friendly, spoke English, and really tried to make guests feel welcome. The toilets and showers were clean and modern, and the shop had fresh things like milk, bread, and salami. The campsite pitches barely fit a 7m camper, and the electrical supply is only 1.5kw, so there’s no running stationary climate control, which usually needs 2kwh. At the beach, you can’t stay without renting a sunbed, and it costs 20€, about the same as at Brico Shop. The pool costs 2,5€/entrance or 4€/day. That isn’t much, but having to go back and forth to reception to pay is a nuisance. They also require a swimming cap even if you have no hair, like my child with a 0 haircut in summer. At the restaurant, I spent 3 hours at a table they claimed was reserved, but nobody came to eat or drink there. When you ask for a cocktail at the bar, the beginner staff make an "ooofff" sound as if to say, do you really want one? Have a nice holiday. Believe me, the animation team is the best thing they have!
