Best Western Palace Inn Ferrara

We had a comfortable, quiet three-night stay, and the staff at reception, breakfast, and housekeeping were all excellent. Breakfast was great, though on one morning there wasn’t much left when we arrived later. I asked for boiled eggs and they brought them without hesitation. The Wi-Fi kept dropping and took a long time to reconnect. I mentioned it to staff, who seemed surprised and said they’d check with the provider, so that needs sorting out. The bus to the city, about 2 km away, can mean a 30-40 minute wait and stops running after 8:30 pm. A taxi to Castello was around €10. Roadhouse next door has a wide menu and was not bad, and Aldi is close for groceries or toiletries. Thanks, Best Western staff!

It’s a reliable, clean, welcoming 4-star hotel and good value for a short stay if convenience and comfort matter more than being in the heart of Ferrara. The city center is around 2 km away, a 25-40 minute walk or a quick bus #6 ride from a nearby stop. Without a car, that distance may be a drawback. Lidl and Aldi are close by, and there’s a lively steakhouse next door. The 85 rooms are modern, soundproofed, and hypoallergenic, with 32-inch LCD TVs, free Wi-Fi, power showers, and coffee and tea makers. Guests praise the clean rooms and comfortable beds, though some find the air conditioning hard to adjust. The breakfast buffet is a highlight, with homemade cakes, fruit, cheese, meats, eggs, and gluten-free and vegetarian choices. It costs €9 when not included. Staff are friendly, speak several languages, and are quick to help with local tips or bookings. A few guests have mentioned minor upkeep problems, such as slow elevators and occasional power glitches. The gym is basic, so don’t expect much.

It’s a nice place to stay, though a little distance from the center. Public transport is an option.
