Hotel Duchessa Isabella Collection by GSA Hotels

The rest of the staff were nice and tried to keep things from ending on a sour note, but the manager’s handling of our room was disappointing. He tried to move us into a different room from the one we’d booked, and when we asked what we had paid for, his manner was poor and unprofessional. What the hotel offers is also available at any decent three-star hotel.

I was there for four very hot days in June and still slept in wonderfully cool nights. The place is spotless and well cared for, and the staff are completely dedicated to guests. They gave me excellent restaurant advice, and the places they suggested were creative, fine, and authentic. Duchessa Isabelle Hotel has real character and taste, without glossy pretensions, and everything works. It’s a true five-star stay for travelers who value comfort, character, and a unique spirit. I’m a frequent traveler and warmly recommend it. Some less positive reviews seem unfair to me. Duchessa Isabell Hotel is different from the standardized luxury places you might find in Dubai, but it has a genuine five-star mindset.

The room was fantastic and very enjoyable, though maybe a bit over-decorated. Everyone was friendly, including the cleaner and the bar attendant. Set in an old historic building, this clean and comfortable hotel is about a five-minute walk from the castle. It has a lovely old-fashioned feel.

Our stay had issue after issue, and I wouldn’t come back or recommend it. The walls are so thin you hear everything. The spa and hotel restaurant were closed, and our room wasn’t ready when it was time to check in. It was hot in the room, but staff said the building wouldn’t allow them to switch on the air conditioning. We couldn’t open the windows without letting things in because there were no screens. When I asked for a taxi from the train station, staff said they couldn’t call one. The showers are old tub setups with a handheld wand, and ours flooded the bathroom.
