Gasthof Steg

We were heading to Canazei and stopped for a quick lunch just before closing. They kindly reopened the kitchen for us. The food was simple, but delicious.

The location is handy for getting around the area, and the staff were always pleasant and ready to help. Our room was cozy, comfortable, and very clean. The food tasted homemade and was great, while breakfast was simple but good. We really enjoyed staying here.

The people serving us were so kind and cheerful, and both dinner and breakfast were great. Our room was peaceful with the window shut, even though the place sits right by the road beside the Fiume Isarco river. With it open, you can fall asleep to the water instead. The bed was very comfortable. Stop in for a lovely stay.

Breakfast was pretty good for a room in this price range, and the bathroom was clean and worked fine. The rest left me unimpressed. Nobody was there when we arrived after 4, so we waited in the parking lot. The room was very basic and the mattress too soft. The two people running the inn came across as unusually cold and unfriendly, like having guests was a bother. It’s only a few meters from a very busy, noisy road. There was no air conditioning or fan, and opening the window wasn’t an option because of the traffic noise.
