Hotel San Marco & Formula Club

I'd come back, mainly because the staff were good to excellent, the room was clean and comfortable, the shower had hot water and a decent flow, and there was plenty of parking. The location is good too. Still, I think three stars is about right, not four. The building could use some care and renovation, though nothing major. The room was okay, but the shower was small and the toilet's awkward position made it a squeeze. Breakfast was the biggest letdown. I was there with five colleagues, and we all felt the same. The hot dishes weren't even warm, there wasn't enough heating to keep the food at a decent temperature, and I've no idea how the scrambled eggs got so rubbery.

We spent one night here with the kids and found it comfortable. The room was a good size and clean. Breakfast had lots of choices, and the woman serving it was kind and accommodating.

I can't see any reason this place has four stars. The room looked nothing like the photos, and the upgraded room didn't feel upgraded at all, more like it hadn't been improved in years. It was dirty and old, and the bed was incredibly uncomfortable. A horrible experience.

Breakfast was the worst part of a truly awful hotel stay. We were there with a tour group, and they kept us in a separate area. That alone might have been fine if the food had been the same, but there was no real milk, pastries, vegetables, or proper breakfast service. When I challenged them, they looked me in the face and claimed the options were identical, even though I could see they weren't. It felt like blatant discrimination, hard to believe in Italy in 2024, a country so often praised for hospitality. The other problems seem minor by comparison: the elevator only fits one person, and its door closes without warning; the rooms are small, the air conditioning didn't work all night, and the bathroom step is dangerous and inconvenient for children and older people. I'd give the hotel zero stars if I could. I've never had a worse hotel experience anywhere in the world. Stay away, and don't spend precious family time here.
