Hotel Waldsee

The rooms are generally small and laid out awkwardly. There's no fridge, and since the heating is off during the day, the rooms get cold. We also had no kettle, coffee machine, or even a glass. At the wellness area there wasn't a choice of tea, and towels weren't provided. You have to rent a bathrobe, and the sauna towels were too small for more robust customers. The mixed sauna is nude, with windows facing the road and parking lot, which felt really unpleasant. On the plus side, the location is nice, though secluded; dinner and breakfast were good quality with a good selection. The cleaning staff and waiters were very friendly, and the owners were polite and friendly too. The shuttle taxi to the slopes was included, and the pool was large with a clean wellness area.

Our first summer stay at Waldsee Hotel was wonderful. We'd been to the area in other seasons before, but hadn't stayed here. The setting alone makes it worth a visit: just a few meters from the beautiful mountain lake of Fié, with woods all around and a breathtaking view of the Sciliar Massif. The original main building connects to the newer covered pool and spa, and there's also a dependance. An underground passage links the buildings, handy in winter. There's no outdoor pool, but with Fié lake right there and the hotel's private pier, who needs one? The food was quite good, and breakfast was served on the outdoor terrace. Calling the grounds a garden hardly does them justice: there's a big grassy area with sun loungers, plus cool shade from the woods. Public transport serves the whole Sciliar area well, so we left the car in the hotel parking lots and got around on local buses. Animals are welcome too!

We spent a magical week here starting May 19, as a group of 74 friends, and it was a marvelous experience. The welcome, food, service, rooms, decor, and swimming pool were all excellent. We highly recommend this hotel and would happily return anytime. Alan Beatrice Paton from London.

The lake and forest make for a really peaceful setting. It's our favorite hotel in Northern Italy, and we love coming back every year. You can get full board, and there's a sauna and swimming pool.
