Casale Giuncarelli

Casale Giuncarelli was such a comfortable, peaceful place to return to after exploring. We could relax outside our apartment in the private garden, with crickets and all kinds of flowers around us. In summer, the pool is a little slice of heaven. Fiesole is only a few minutes away, with its Roman amphitheater and remarkable archaeological site, and Florence is about 20 minutes away or less. There’s so much to see there, from the Duomo and Galleria degli Uffizi to all the architecture and art. For relaxing in this beautiful part of Tuscany, I honestly couldn’t imagine a better location.

Daniela couldn’t have been more hospitable or helpful, and we felt the price was more than fair for such a special part of our Tuscany stay. The views over the hills north of Florence and the city were so spectacular I can’t put them into words. The accommodation was beautiful and charming, and my wife and I couldn’t have asked for more. You can manage without a car at Giuncarelli, but having one made things much easier: it was only a few minutes’ drive to the square, with plenty of free parking nearby. The walk to the number 7 bus stop into Florence took just under 30 minutes, which would be a real challenge if you have mobility issues, though it’s doable otherwise, especially if you want to get your steps in. We spent a day or so without a car and made it work. It was warm to hot during our stay, but a fan or two kept the apartment comfortable. We had a perfect week on the Fiesole hills, staying in casa Farnia at Casale Giuncarelli. The hillside view of Firenze was wonderful, and we were close to the swimming pool. It’s an ideal spot for a peaceful week or for exploring beautiful Toscane. We went to Sienna and the surrounding area, though you don’t have to travel far: Fiesole’s historic site in the centre is well worth a visit, and the restaurants by the market are lovely. Terrazza 45 has a fabulous view of Firenze. Daniela welcomed us warmly, and we had nice morning chats while she watered the plants with her two cute, gentle dogs at her side, her “shadows.” We’ll certainly come back. Daniela is a charming, wonderful hostess, and the house has everything you need for a few relaxing days. It’s perfect, in a postcard-worthy setting with views of Florence.
