Hotel Gli Orzali

I stayed in the apartment style unit on the second floor. The decor has a great authentic 70s-80s feel, with modern conveniences like TV and Wi-Fi, and the place was superbly clean. Sabrina was a highlight. She’s helpful and knowledgeable, and made sure I had everything I needed. She also gave us good tips on what to see during our daily outings. We drove south to the hilltop villas and villages. It’s a bit of a way, but I wouldn’t trade this stay for another. Each evening we sat in the apartment dinette and looked west at the hills during sunset. The view was like a screensaver, except real, with deer, rabbits, colorful birds, and other wildlife. Breakfast was simple but delicious, with espresso and cappuccino, and those are some of the things I miss most about our daily routine. From here there’s a direct route to Bologna and Mugello, both great to visit, and the lovely small town of Firenzuola is just five minutes away. The views are wonderful. I’ll be back soon!

After a long hike on the via degli dei, the comfortable room and bathroom felt like a real treat. We had some trouble with the room’s heating system, though. The nearby restaurant is worth going to. Great place to stay, I’d recommend it.

The place is beautiful and peaceful, with a great location, a good host, and a nice, cozy room with a big bathroom. The walls are thin and partly glass, though, so noisy neighbors can make it hard to fully enjoy your stay. There aren’t many local restaurants, so book ahead or you may have to drive about half an hour towards Florence to find dinner.

There’s no air conditioning in the rooms, but the property has plenty of parking, good Wi-Fi, satellite TV, and a communal pool. Room-only guests can use the small self-serve honor bar by Reception. The place has both self-catering apartments in separate buildings and hotel rooms in a converted farm building. It’s a lovely rural spot with nice views across the countryside north of Florence, and only a 30-minute drive from Mugello Circuit. The associated restaurant, Ristorante Il Sagromoso, is 50 meters down the hill. It serves an excellent dinner with fresh pasta and is also where the included breakfast is served. Safe travels.
