We were worn out after reaching the top of Monte Cimone, and when we got down to Alpe di Sara, Sara set us up with loungers and cold beer. Just what we needed. The room had been recently renovated and had all the comforts we wanted, and dinner with good wine was lovely. In the morning she made us panini (pranzo a sacco) and kindly drove us a few kilometers so we could save time on the long walk ahead. I’d happily recommend Alpe di Sara.

The holiday reviews make this place sound far better than it is. Neither the rooms nor the restaurant stood out, and at these prices I expected more, including a bit more empathy from the staff across the board. You can get much better value in the Dolomites. And this is Fiumalbo, after all.
