Hilton Garden Inn Rome Airport

After a late arrival from a long-haul flight, we got everything we needed for the night. The bed and linens were excellent, and there was a kettle and fridge in the room. The bar and full-service restaurant stayed open until late, and breakfast was quite good by Italian standards. I don't know why the rating is so low. In my view, this is far better than the more expensive Hilton in the airport complex, and we'd use it again without hesitation.

I slept well before my flight thanks to the clean room and comfortable bed. Breakfast was a nice way to start the day, and the staff were ready to help. There’s a well-equipped gym, plus a small grab-and-go area for snacks and a microwave downstairs. This Hilton also has a free shuttle to the airport. A good stay.

The terminal shuttle was confusing. Its stop display is hard to read, and the hotel stop has a name very similar to the one before it, so some guests got off at the wrong place. The bus nearly went past us because it didn’t stop right outside the terminal, but a local helped us flag it down. That aside, we had a really enjoyable stay. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the hotel kindly upgraded our room, which was excellent. We’d recommend it for an overnight stop near the airport.

The rooms were clean, and the free airport shuttle runs every 15 minutes. It takes about 15 minutes to reach T3. But we could hear the neighbors through the walls, and our adult children had the same problem in their room. That noise would have been enough to put me off. The restaurant charged 3€ per person, even for hotel guests, and the food was below average, even by airport hotel standards. At check-in, we were told coffee would be available in the lobby for our early flight, but nobody mentioned it cost 4€ a cup from the self-service machine. Uber doesn’t pick up at the hotel, so you’ll need to call a taxi to go to a nearby dinner spot. It’s manageable if you know in advance. The location is great, but next time we’ll stay somewhere else.
