Porto di Claudio

We chose this place for its location, but the room was very poorly cleaned and smelled strongly of chemicals. There was hair all over the sink. The large shower head leaked onto the already small bathroom floor, leaving it covered in water. It wasn’t a good experience.

We only needed one night at Porto Di Claudio before our morning flight, and it suited us well. The staff were helpful, the room was clean, and it had everything we needed: towels, soap, water, coffee for the morning, a fridge we could use, a pleasant sitting room, and enough outlets. Hot water was ready for showers, and there’s a nice walking district with several restaurants. I’d recommend the B&B when you need somewhere near the airport. Their shuttle to and from the airport cost less than a taxi, but they insisted on cash euros. It’s frustrating for Americans to be refused a credit card so they can avoid reporting to the government for more than one reason, though I get it. Taxes are high everywhere.

At 4:00pm, after waiting half an hour and finding the room still wasn’t ready, I asked Agoda for a refund. We’d first arrived at 2:30pm and were told to come back in 30 minutes, so we went for a meal and returned around 3:30pm. Then a guy suddenly showed up and wanted us to follow him to an address on Via delle Meduse, 00054 Isola Sacra RM, Italy. We had no idea what that place was, refused, and left. Booking through Agoda turned into a total nightmare. PLZ SKIP THIS SCAM.

At checkout, just as we needed to catch our airport ride, nobody was at the desk again. I called the main number and was told the person was on his way back to the hotel. The night before, I’d called and gone down several times, but the desk was empty each time. We’d only stayed one night, and when I asked for ice for a hurt knee, the machine had been switched off, so I had to walk several blocks to a convenience store. I’m guessing the same person handled the shuttle and breakfast too, since breakfast was scheduled for after we left. I was stunned that the front desk was left completely unattended both the night before and the morning we checked out.
