2016 Apartments

The place was clean and spacious, and the lady who welcomed us was very nice and showed us around. We had apartment no. 3, with three bathrooms, which made the stay comfortable. It’s a bit far from the centre, so expect some walking. The worst issue was the second bedroom in the basement. There was mold all over the windows, and the smell made the room completely unusable. There were only three of us, but the third person had to use the sofa bed instead of a proper bed. Some renovation to deal with the mold would be welcome.

I’d only recommend this place if you really need apartment space and facilities and don’t have many alternatives. It’s a 20-minute walk to the main attractions. Apt 4 is on three levels, with almost no windows on two of them, and the upkeep was poor for nearly E500 a night. One window was broken and held shut with tape, and generally it felt like no money was going into maintenance. If you arrive early, you can take a taxi to Borghese Palace Hotel, the operator, to leave your bags. After that, expect to walk 15+ minutes over cobbled streets with your luggage to the 2016 apartments, with no offer of help. The block is shared with people who don’t stay at the hotel. I reckon there must be better options.

The five-bedroom apartment is the biggest one here, but space is very tight. That’s what you’d expect in a building over 100 years old. It’s quaint, cozy, and comfortable, with gorgeous antique wooden furniture and ceiling frescoes. The showers are small and there isn’t much room overall, so it suits you if you’ll mostly be out during the day.

A nice two-bedroom apartment with comfortable beds. People can sleep on sofa beds in the lounge, though that space opens onto one of the bedrooms, so noise and light may be an issue. It could use a few finishing touches, like a larger kettle, another comfy chair or sofa, and a bit more furniture. It works for a group, and the self-catering setup is useful if that’s what you need.
