Acquamarina

We picked this apartment at the last minute over Easter, when most of Florence was already booked up. The location is a real plus, right in the center, and the kitchen has plenty of equipment. But the place is extremely cramped. The shower was so small my husband couldn’t fit, and the water heater barely provided enough hot water for one person. Cigarette smoke kept lingering in the room. We don’t smoke, and even if it came from another apartment, it made the stay unpleasant. Light from the stairwell also came straight into the apartment in front of the bed whenever someone switched it on. That happened several times in the middle of the night and woke us. The worst part was the service. We stepped outside briefly to get our luggage, and the door locked automatically with our keys inside. Staff first said someone would be there in 10-15 minutes. After 25 minutes, we called again and were told it would be another 45 minutes, and that the earlier estimate was someone else’s problem. We said we were in a hurry and even offered to collect a key ourselves, but got a rude reply that locking ourselves out was our problem and we could wait or not. We waited more than an hour before finally getting the keys. That attitude spoiled the experience. It’s surprising the door locks in a way that can leave guests stranded, and I doubt we’re the first this has happened to. With the apartment’s problems and especially that service, I can’t recommend it, despite the good location.
