Agriturismo Le Macine

This place is a little tucked away behind a main road, but the bus into Florence is easy to reach and comes every 20 minutes. The family running this B&B were so friendly and went out of their way to help us figure out where to go. When we arrived, they marked the buses we needed on a Florence map and gave us a guidebook to read. Our room was spacious, and its old brick walls kept it cool in summer. Breakfast was homemade, healthy, and one of the best we had on the trip. With three generations of the family living there, it felt like a real Italian experience. We could chat with everyone and get tips and stories about Florence and Italy. They make their own wine and olive oil, too.

Breakfast together was such a lovely experience, with everyone sharing food and laughing. The people at Agriturismo Le Macine are warm and welcoming, and the place feels simple but has everything you need, plus a little extra. It brought back the Florence I’d imagined while reading an EM Forster novel. Petro has a thousand olive trees and is 83 today. He was born in the house, as were his three daughters, and his two younger daughters still live there. He described what I understood as home calvings, with his wife of 55 years there too. Just beautiful.

I had a very comfortable stay here in Florence. The owners were really welcoming, and breakfast was the best I had in Italy. There’s a bus stop nearby for getting into town.

The rooms are simple and clean, and breakfast is delicious, made with produce from Piero’s land. Located 5 km from central Florence, this agritourism is run by one of the loveliest families in Tuscany. Piero has a big heart and loves sharing stories about Florence’s history, the countryside, and Italian dolce vita. A beautiful, authentic Italian experience.
