Alinari Hotel

We stayed at Hotel Alinari for three days in November 2025. It's very convenient to the train station, and our room was clean and spacious. The evening manager, an elderly person, was quick to help whenever needed. Breakfast was generous, and they went out of their way to prepare it fresh without beef or pork. That was really heartening.

For the price, it was okay, though not the best. The room was clean and comfortable apart from the small shower. I'd say it's suited to solo travellers, couples or friends rather than families. If you're leaving your luggage, bring a lock to be safe since they keep it in the lobby.

The one good thing for me was the location: it's a short walk to SMN station, lots of places to eat and Florence's main sights. The room looked nicely presented when I arrived, but the rest of the stay was disappointing. There was a body odour smell, probably from the mattresses, which seemed old and possibly hadn't been cleaned or looked after in years. They sagged in the middle, too. The bathroom was cramped, especially the roughly 2.5-by-2.5-foot shower cubicle. It was hard to soap up without bumping the walls. The bathroom door is right beside the bed, with the toilet directly on the other side, so I had to move the bed farther away. Luckily there was enough room to do that. Breakfast was poor compared with other hotels of the same star rating: few choices, hardly any meat, and you had to ask for more coffee because guests can't use a coffee machine. I also had to lock my room door manually. I wasn't expecting luxury, but this place needs remodeling and updating. It felt like a one-star hotel.

A perfect base by the train station, close to restaurants and the main sights. The rooms were modern, had plenty of outlets, and came with espresso and water. There was also a small lobby shop selling beer, soda and water. Breakfast was wonderful.
