The listing gives a good description and the professional photos look appealing. I expected class, finesse, and perfection, but the details didn't live up to that. Getting there was confusing. The signs say cars can't enter the forbidden city, and nothing explained whether a taxi could drive in to drop off bags. The building does have an elevator, but it's tiny. My bag wouldn't fit, so I had to carry it to the first floor, then try the so-called elevator, which didn't work. It's the smallest I've ever seen, smaller than a restaurant food Monte-Charge. The flat is large and beautifully decorated, with wide, colorful rooms, but it's on the third floor and has no view, balcony, or terrace. The bathrooms are tiny, making it hard to move around and nearly impossible to bring toiletries in. For the price, I expected basics like water in the rooms and tissue boxes by the bed. I know it's an apartment, not a hotel room, but there's a minimum standard. It's an old building, and I could hear neighbors walking above and traffic noise from the busy street below. The bathrooms had no locks, the rooms had no black curtains, and the toilets had no curtains or privacy. There were plenty of messages and emails before arrival and during the stay. The check-in process was very complicated, with a passport copy, a photo holding the passport, and more. Everything felt rushed, and checkout was at 10am. Would I do it again? No. Would I recommend it to a friend? No.
