The hostel looks nice, but I decided not to stay after the reception made it difficult to leave my bag. One worker said I could store it, while another said no because I wasn’t a current guest. I offered to pay, and other hostels have let me do that, so I didn’t understand the refusal. I felt discriminated against. The bald man with glasses in particular could have been more relaxed and understood that travelers may not want to carry all their things around before booking a room.

Everything about it was bad for me. The staff’s attitude was awful, and they didn’t seem willing to help. It didn’t feel like Italy at all.

The mosquitoes were a major problem, even in March. There’s a park and a stream nearby, and with no window screens they got into the room. In a shared room, you can’t keep the windows shut all the time. The place is also far from Florence’s center, so commuting cuts into your time in the city. There’s no kitchen access, meaning you have to eat out for every meal. Nearby options are limited if you’re looking for affordable or healthy food. Each room has just one bathroom, and there’s no extra shared bathroom in the building. The bathroom door has a gap at the bottom, so there’s hardly any privacy and you can hear everything. I was drawn in by the price and modern look, but they gave a misleading impression. Don’t go.

Carla was especially friendly and helpful, and the rest of the staff made us feel welcome too. The rooms were spacious and clean, with very comfortable beds, and the modern property has a good range of amenities. It’s a peaceful spot outside the center, which is only a few minutes away by tram or bus. We had a fantastic stay.
