Aurum Uffizi

The location is the one thing I can praise, with the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio very close by. We were a family of four and had to switch rooms: the first had an odd layout, a moldy smell, a leaking bidet, and a terrible rollaway bed. The second room was better, but we couldn’t open the window onto the patio because of a sewage smell. Hot water ran out before two people could shower, so we had to wait for it to heat up again. The Wi-Fi was unreliable, breakfast wasn’t good, and the staff did the bare minimum. Their WhatsApp service was especially unhelpful. This didn’t feel like a four-star hotel.

The front desk staff were patient and nice, and the beds were comfortable. The rooms were a decent size, and the location put us close to everything. There were serious practical problems, though. The hot showers were limited, the fridge was broken, and the Wi-Fi kept cutting out every minute, followed by a five-minute wait before it came back for just another minute. Breakfast had few options, so picky eaters may not find much to have. The elevator broke twice in two days. We had to haul our luggage down the stairs, and my grandparents struggled with the steps. Update: The downstairs bathroom setup is strange, with a toilet behind one door and a girls’ toilet behind another door inside it. Neither door locks, so I’d use the bathroom in your hotel room.

The rooms are modern and clean, and the staff are exceptionally kind and helpful. The location is amazing. Breakfast was pretty sad and needs work, while the in-room Wi-Fi isn’t great, though it does work.

The breakfast was a real highlight, with lots of choices and everything tasting delicious. The staff were sweet, answered all our questions, and booked taxis when we needed them. We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel. It’s tucked on a small street, well placed between all the sights we visited. Our room for three was more than spacious enough, with comfortable beds and enough linens and water. The inside looked trendy and nice. I’d recommend staying here in Florence. Ciao 🫶🏼
