We were about a 15-20 minute walk from the main tourist area, with plenty of places to eat nearby, including an Irish pub just four doors down. Breakfast was left outside our door each morning, and there was a lot of it. Since my spouse and I eat lightly, we asked the morning desk staff after day one to bring just one more serving. They were friendly and helpful, and arranged two taxis for us. Our five-night stay was enjoyable. The room was bright and clean, the air conditioner was quiet and worked well, and there was an elevator. A shelf and grab bar in the shower, plus hooks in the bathroom, would be useful.

Our room had a smell that wouldn't go away, and the staff came across as unwelcoming and unprofessional. The manager didn't seem interested in hearing guests' concerns. The standards for cleanliness, service, and hospitality need urgent attention. We didn't find the stay comfortable.

One thing to sort out before arriving at Residenza San Gallo 79 is your check-in time. Staff aren't on site all day, so contacting the hotel after booking to confirm when you'll arrive should help make check-in go smoothly. I had a pleasant stay. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well cared for, and the central location made it easy to explore the city.

Management didn't seem willing to address problems, which was disappointing. The room smelled unpleasant, and staff were short on courtesy and communication. The hotel fell short of even basic expectations, and its cleanliness and professionalism need serious improvement.

The room was hard to rest in, with a bad smell, damp air, and a noisy air conditioner. Breakfast felt disorganized, and staff rarely followed through properly. We were also disappointed by how the manager communicated when we asked about a city tax that hadn't appeared during booking. The property needs serious work on management and guest service. We wouldn't stay here again.
