Casa Savonarola Charme

We really disliked our stay. The room was tiny, dark, damp, and dingy, and it felt cold and uncomfortable at night in early November. The setup was awkward, and the host was overbearing, asking far too many personal questions. I didn't want to ask about the heating because I worried they'd come into the room and overwhelm me again. The lack of social awareness was exhausting. They explained things like we were children, going over how to use a key, toilet, shower, and more. Honestly, don't stay here unless you're okay with that kind of experience. This is a bed, not a bed and breakfast. 😆

This was the worst experience of my life. I've worked as a flight attendant and stayed in hotels for more than 13 years, for both work and holidays. I can't remember meeting a more arrogant or unpleasant host. At around 11 p.m., we reported loud footsteps from the accommodation above us. They were so heavy the chandelier was shaking, and we couldn't rest. At first, the host acted as if he didn't know what we meant and said there were no guests upstairs. In fact, it was his own room, and he was making the constant noise. He came into our room to check, stared sarcastically at the ceiling, and eventually admitted it was him. Then, close to midnight and with the temperature around 11 degrees, he said exactly: “IF YOU WANT, YOU CAN LEAVE! I HAVE 3 PEOPLE WAITING FOR THIS ROOM!” On top of that, he doesn't speak or understand English and kept using a translator. We were meant to stay two more days, but left the next morning. We were extremely happy not to see him again and hope we never do.

What an amazing city, with incredible food. Our host made the trip even better by giving us detailed directions, and the welcome wine was fantastic 🫠. Thank you! I'd do it again a thousand times.

I added this place to Google Maps because of how badly I was treated. The room wasn't as described. I booked on Booking.com, which said there would be a private bathroom. There was a bathroom for each room, but it was outside the room, which isn't what I expected from a private bathroom. The property was in a semi-basement, with a gloomy hallway, and the room looked even worse than the photos. That morning, the internet at the Uffizi Gallery was unstable, so I couldn't reach the host. When my mother and I arrived, the host seemed upset and pressured us to get a refund. Even though we had agreed, he made racist comments, including, “Koreans wash their socks in the bathroom,” and insisted that we didn't like the room. He hadn't even mentioned using the washing machine, but laughed and kept making negative comments about the place. In the end, my mother and I were practically kicked out. We got a refund, but couldn't leave a review on Booking.com. We did see negative reviews for the place on TripAdvisor. The host is extremely moody, and the accommodation isn't as good as advertised. Please be warned.
