Casaldo's rooms

Dominic & Irene made us delicious homemade breakfasts each morning, with fresh crepes, omelettes, homemade jams and quiches. Such a lovely start to the day. The spacious Family Studio room felt like a home away from home. The hosts were friendly, accommodating and easy to communicate with, and even left slippers for each guest. From Station Firenze Campo di Marte it’s a 5 minute walk, and the Duomo is 25 minutes away on foot. A great spot if you want to be near the city without being surrounded by all the tourists. I’d definitely recommend staying here in Florence.

The location isn’t right in the center, which in Florence is probably a plus. You avoid the endless streams of screaming teenage tourists outside the window, and public transport is handy. Everything worth seeing is reachable on foot too, even if you have to drag your moody fiance along. Livia/Irene were the only hosts or staff I got to meet, and both were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and neat, with a fridge, AC, bialetti and Wi-Fi. Burak also gave us a great Amazon-Prime TV-experience. I couldn’t get enough of "Live on Mars". It’s not completely soundproof, but you should be fine as long as the neighbours don’t play "Super Mario Full Tilt" all day. There’s also a terrace with a hammock above the rooms, and it seems popular. In the hallway there’s a picture of a highly decorated bulldog who looks like Stalin, only younger, cuter and of course not as evil. How can you not like that? All in all, a cosy room for a vacation in Bella Italia.

The owner was kind and let us check in earlier than expected. For the price we could afford, we’d been choosing between this place and a hostel for our one-night stop in Florence, and wow, this place was amazing. The studio was spotless, modern and quiet, with high-quality furniture and a small private terrace. It’s about a 20 minute walk from the historic center, enough time to digest dinner. Breakfast was a real change from the same "cornetto-capucino" we’d had for three weeks in Italy: omelette made from scratch, homemade cookies, as much coffee as you need, and fresh bio products.

We'd happily stay here again. The room was cosy and clean, the owner friendly, and breakfast was great. The neighbourhood was nice too.
