The dinner was wonderful, and the staff were genuinely kind. The bed was very comfortable too. We loved the castle tower and terrace, though seeing building materials from up there took away from the view. Getting there is easy by car but a bit difficult without one. Our bathroom door was so thin there was no privacy, and the toilet flush made an unbearable racket at night. The bathtub looked yellowish and could use a better cleaning, perhaps because of the pipes or water. The entrance door also needs replacing soon, since there was a gap underneath. And with such a cold floor, slippers should be provided.

The owner welcomed us warmly and had plenty of stories about the castle. We heard that a great emperor stayed in our room before his coronation, and that Michelangelo had stayed at the castle too. Our room was one of a kind, with a jacuzzi and a fantastic view. Dinner here is a good idea if you stay.

The castle itself has a lovely atmosphere, but the room needed a lot of maintenance, with several broken lights, and it looked better in the pictures. The air conditioner was noisy, and service was basically absent. We were shown to a third-floor room with no lift, and there was no room phone, so I had to call a number to reach anyone. Breakfast was an odd little tray with a couple of croissants, jam and biscuits, rather than the buffet I expected. The jacuzzi took over an hour to fill because the water pressure was so low. My wife struggled on the stairs, so ladies, skip the high heels. It's far from the town centre and expensive for what you get. I wouldn't recommend it.

The tower views were the one thing that made this stay worthwhile for us. We booked one night with breakfast through a Smartbox gift, expecting to have dinner and a drink at the hotel after exploring beautiful Firenze. We couldn't reach them by phone or WhatsApp the day before, using the numbers on the website. They later called, but I missed it. When we arrived around 17:00, a staff member showed us the room and said to message on WhatsApp if we needed anything, since nobody was in the office. We tried both numbers, the website one and the one on the room poster, to ask about drinks and dinner, but got no reply. When we called, she explained that there was no service at all, not even drinks or dinner. There were also lots of mosquitoes and some spiders, which might be expected in an old castle but was still awful. The room was just okay, nothing special, though the jacuzzi was a nice feature. Based on our experience, we can't recommend staying here.

The place has potential, but it feels badly managed and not much like staying in a castle. The rooms are tiny, with poor bathrooms, and the location is hard to reach without a car.
