The former chapel upstairs is a special, compact oratory, and it's available to visit by asking Reception. There's no fee and nobody even hints at a donation. Management deserves credit for such gracious hospitality. This gem can be easy to miss after the extensive recent renovation of the former convent and clergy retirement complex. The day spa with accommodations now also has a private dining venue for hire, and the chapel can be hired too. The dazzling cloister has been made over as well, with a lunch-only Bistrot and a coffee shop and bar open through the late evening. See my other post about this off-the-beaten-path destination on Piazza Calza, right by Porta Romana. Highly recommended.

This Last Supper is unbelievable, a real hidden gem in Florence. It's well worth seeing if you can get in. Ask at the front desk, they're very nice about arranging a visit if you're flexible and can go when it suits them.

It took a quick question at reception to find out whether I could see Franciabigio's Last Supper. The staff were very kind, and I'm grateful to them again for making it possible. The fresco is tucked away in the convent's refectory, still in its original setting inside the restaurant of a private establishment. Abbess Antonia de' Medici commissioned Florentine painter Francesco di Cristofano, known as Franciabigio (1482-1525), to paint it in 1514. It's a hidden gem, though not easy to access.
