Corso Terzo in Firenze

Once we got into the room, things went smoothly enough. It was fine, had no strange smells, and the AC worked well. The location really is great, but next time I’d probably pick somewhere easier to manage. Getting our suitcases down two flights from the room and then down the steep stairs at the alley entrance was a hassle. There were plenty of stairs from the start: we had to haul bags up three or four flights from ground level before reaching the very old, slow elevator on the first floor. After checking in there, we were put in a room another two flights up with no elevator. The receptionist called a cleaner to help carry our bags, which we appreciated but also felt bad about, especially hearing them bump loudly as she dragged them upstairs. We also later discovered that an opaque glass window we thought faced nothing connected to another guest’s room below. They could see a bright light from us, and when they asked us to close the curtain and watch the light, we agreed and apologized.

You can walk all over central Florence from here, which was a real plus. The setup caught us off guard, though: the hotel occupies just a floor or two in a building, and we had to push our suitcases up ramps to reach the second floor and then take the elevator. The bed was terribly uncomfortable, and the place felt more like a hostel than a hotel.

The front desk staff were really helpful, and the location is great. The rooms are roomy by European standards, simple but comfortable, and good value for the money. Recommended!
