Hotel Fani

The manager was really nice and accommodating, and a lot of fun to talk with. They even gave me suggestions for getting around Florence. The room and bathroom were clean, and staff tidied up and restocked them every day. It was an easy, restful stay, and I’d highly recommend the hotel.

The only real plus was the location. The price was far too high for what I got. There was no hot water for my shower, and the room was disgustingly hot and humid. I found hair on the pillows and in the shower. It was also incredibly noisy. The walls seemed paper thin: I could hear toilets flushing, people talking, and even a couple having sex. Very disappointing.

There was just one socket in the whole room, and a light by the bed didn’t work, so it was either very bright or dark. The bathroom had no hooks for towels or glass for toothbrushes and other toiletries. The room itself was very dark, the curtains were falling off the window, and the furniture and bathroom were very old. Noise came from the hall and from the kitchen and laundry area in the yard, which the room faced. You could hear everything. The service and room were terrible for the price. Never again.

We had to wait for our train on the way back and wanted to sit in the hotel’s waiting room, but oddly, we weren’t welcome there anymore. Just mentioning it. During our stay, the room was large, very clean, and had a high ceiling, which I really liked. The Italian breakfast was delicious, and we could have it in our room. We arrived quite late, and an older staff member didn’t speak English, but everything went smoothly. I’d stay there again.
