Hotel Merlini

It's a quiet place with comfortable beds, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. The hotel is on the third floor, but there's an elevator. It's a short walk from the train station and close to many popular attractions. Breakfast is €10 for a buffet, which we thought was worth it. If you only want a pastry and coffee, though, a nearby cafe might suit you better.

We missed having a refrigerator in the room. Still, we had a great stay in Oct 2024. The owners were the real highlight, so friendly, kind, welcoming, and helpful that they made us feel at home. The location was another big plus: about a 10 minute walk to the train and Florence's main tourist spots, and around 8 minutes to the tour meeting point. There’s an elevator too.

Rosario and his family were wonderful and very accommodating. Hotel merlini is family run and charming, with clean rooms of a decent size and air conditioning. My fiancé and I stayed three nights and have just left. It's tucked away enough to be peaceful, yet many of the sites are only a five minute walk away. It was just what we wanted, and I'd happily recommend it.

You need to ring the bell at the main door to get in, which made the place feel very safe. Rosario or his son are always there to answer it, so arriving late after a night out isn't a worry. They were very accommodating with requests, and Rosario and his family made us feel welcome. Our room was tidy and clean, with a modern bathroom and a good sized shower. The location was handy too, four minutes on foot from the main train station, 10-15 minutes from the basilica, 5-10 from the main leather markets, and 10 minutes from the academia gallery with David.
