Hotel Paola

The only good part was the location, plus I got lucky with the kind, welcoming female travelers I shared the room with. Otherwise, spend a bit more and stay somewhere else. The shower was either too hot or cold, with no water pressure, and smelled strongly of human pee. I don't think the hostel washes the bathroom properly. They didn't provide towels unless you asked. They replied so late to my request that I had to dry off with my clothes. Their hand soap was heavily watered down and wouldn't foam, and even after I asked twice and they said they'd fix it, nothing changed. There was no fridge or microwave. I've never stayed somewhere this horrible.

I was worried after booking on Booking.com because of the low rating, but at first it seemed okay. Then one day the shower water just stopped. I had to wipe off the soap with a towel and get out. Horrible experience.

The room was beautiful, with a private bathroom and a lovely view, and the location was absolutely perfect, central but quiet. Even though it was a mixed dorm, the owner made sure both nights that it was only girls, which was a lovely gesture. The owner and even the cleaning lady, who didn't speak English, were super lovely and accommodating. My experience was nearly perfect. I'd booked before reading the reviews and worried for nothing. There were two downsides: no plugs by the bed, just USB charging, and actually no plugs in the room at all. There was one in the bathroom, but it only worked when the light was on. Also, the drawer for your things couldn't be locked. The hotel/hostel is completely new and still being updated, so I'm sure the owners will take care of these two things eventually.

We booked 2 beds in a 4-bed room. It was pretty comfortable and clean, and the host was very welcoming, friendly and kind. The location is the best, and it was worth the stay. There weren't any charging ports at the bed, just USB. The hostel is purely for sleeping, with no other facilities. Thank you :))
