Hotel Relais Il Cestello

We loved this place, our favorite stay in Italy. It was charming and spacious, just across the river in Florence, with an easy walk to the tourist center, the train station, and great food. The staff were super friendly and helpful.

We had a great three-night stay. The location made it easy to walk to Florence’s main sights, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. We’d definitely come back. I noticed a one-star review from around the same time, about someone’s car being broken into. We saw a broken window in a car parked in front of the hotel, and I assume it was the same one. The person had left luggage in the car, which didn’t seem wise in Florence. I took a photo because of that. We rented a car and left it overnight in the same lot without any valuables inside, and had no problems.

Valeria and the front desk team made our stay feel personal. In this 10 room hotel, she treated us like family and really meant it. She made coffee every morning, recommended and booked restaurants, and followed up on our delayed luggage. We had to book at the last minute and move rooms, then spent one night in Rome. While we were out sightseeing, she moved our bags for us. The hotel is well placed for great restaurants and the sights, but still peaceful amid Florence’s bustle. We had a wonderful few days and highly recommend it.

The hosts made us feel welcome with their warmth and helpful tips. We stayed four nights, and the place was just right. Our room was a good size and very clean, and we could reach the center and many sights in 10-15 minutes.
