Boutique Hotel La Casa di Morfeo

Our flight was cancelled because of extraordinary circumstances in the region, and the airspace was completely shut. We told the hotel more than two weeks before our stay, but they still charged the entire booking as a cancellation fee. That was a real disappointment. The hotel was fully booked and in high demand, so it seemed the room could easily have been sold again. We had hoped for some understanding and a reasonable response to an unusual situation, but got neither.

We lasted seven minutes before paying for another place and leaving. The receptionist was rude and refused to put us in touch with management. There were five of us, including very elderly parents and seven suitcases, but there was no help or service at all. This is a large, hostel-like apartment on the third floor of an old apartment building, not a hotel. The elevator only runs from the second to third floor and has a 140 kg limit; our parents couldn't manage the steep stairs to reach it. The place smelled moldy and the kitchen area was shabby, with no facilities to speak of. Stay away.

We couldn't sleep either night, so the hotel didn't serve the purpose of our family trip at all. On the first night, even though I had approval for a late check-in, they said the room I'd booked and paid for had been given to someone else. At 11:30 at night, they told me to find another hotel. I explained I couldn't start searching then and that I was with two women, and they eventually let us in and put three of us in a small room. Nobody else was available at the property, which left us scared all night. The next day they moved us to a different room, but its air conditioning didn't work in the Italian heat. Again, there was no one to sort out the problem, and we couldn't rest. The manager and staff took none of our complaints seriously. There was no lift and no one to help, either. A horrible experience and very poor customer service.

Giulia helped make our early wedding anniversary feel special. She worked with me to set up a little surprise gift for my husband when we arrived, and we really appreciated the extra effort. Hotel La Casa Di Morfeo was a perfect little place to stay, with a fantastic location, huge comfortable beds, and a relaxing shower. We also enjoyed the cappuccinos at breakfast. Thanks to Giulia and the rest of the staff for making the visit memorable. We hope to return.
