Mama's Home Florence

The room was quiet with the double glazing when the window was closed, and the host was very helpful. The king bed was a good size, though some bathroom shelving would be useful. The location is great, about a 20 minute walk from the station and close to the river, though another row of housing blocks the view of it. The room doesn't look like the photos. It's dark, and you need to keep the curtains closed because neighboring properties overlook it. The air conditioning wasn't cooling.

The room wasn't large, but the bathroom was spacious and clean. The bed was really cozy, and the minibar items were free. They even left us a glass of wine. My boyfriend and I found it ideal for a couple or a solo traveler. One small hassle was having no table, so I wrote postcards on the bed. Restaurants and shops are nearby, and it's under a 10 minute walk from the station and the famous sights. I don't have anything else to complain about. A lovely place to stay and enjoy Florence, and I'd recommend it to everyone.

Marzio was super friendly and gave us coupons for breakfast at a nearby partner café. We felt at home and will be back soon. The room had a large bathroom and a very comfortable bed, and we really liked the complimentary Nespresso machines, bottled water in the fridge, and white wine. The location was excellent, within walking distance of the city center and all the main attractions.

We had to leave at 5:00 pm to find another hotel, and ended up paying twice for the same night. The owner had said he'd refund the second night, but we never received the money, and he ignored our messages. He'd asked us not to leave a bad review, saying his intentions were good. I later saw another review describing the same AC problem, so it seems it still hadn't been fixed. We booked a relatively expensive two-room apartment for two nights in summer because it supposedly had AC. The first night was unbearably hot. One room didn't even have a window, and my one-year-old cried through the night even though the AC was meant to be working. The next morning, both units stopped working and kept blinking as if calling for maintenance. When we contacted Maurizio, he was rude and unprofessional. He refused to fix the AC and said we could leave. The place felt like a dark, airless dungeon. This badly renovated old home and the careless, rude staff and owner ruined our lovely Florence trip. It wasn't worth the money. DO NOT GO THERE!!
