Messori Suites

The room was spacious and clean, with modern facilities, and our room opened onto a terrace where we could see the dome of Santa Maria del Fiore. We stayed for a week during our spring vacation. The hotel is in a beautiful mansion on a quiet street, with a lovely backyard, and the staff were friendly. It’s easy to get to the center by tram, just two stops, or by bus, and takes about 15 minutes on foot. The hotel is well maintained. For families with children staying longer, a little more storage in the room would be helpful.

We really enjoyed our four nights here. The rooms were comfortable and nicely presented, and reception staff were polite and helpful. It’s away from the crowds, about a 25-minute walk to the city center.

We asked the front desk to book a taxi, then called later to change the pickup time. We were told it had been taken care of, but at checkout the staff said there was no taxi booked. When we explained that we’d only changed the time, the receptionist kept saying it had been canceled and offered no immediate solution. There was no apology for the hotel’s mistake. Instead, the staff member blamed the back office for not passing along the note. We also had to manage our luggage down the stairs ourselves, with no help. The hotel needs to improve staff training and coordination.

The B&B was very clean, the staff were helpful, and the location was handy for walking into central Florence. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby, as well as a park and a great ice cream place. We were first given a suite by the garden because our hotel room wasn’t available. It was lovely, but ants kept appearing in the bedroom, possibly because of the weather and its position by the garden. Staff tried to get rid of them twice, but they continued to come back. We were eventually moved to a wonderful room in the hotel, and I wish we’d been placed there to begin with. It would be useful to have an ironing board and iron in every room. Having to call for one and wait each time was inconvenient. Otherwise, it was a brilliant stay.
