Our room at Palazzo Alfieri was incredibly spacious, with a truly breathtaking view, and we loved the sleek, modern feel throughout the hotel. We also spent plenty of time on the rooftop terrace, a great place to take in the atmosphere. The bed was extremely comfortable, and having a private coffee bar in the room felt like a thoughtful high-end touch. This boutique hotel sits right on the Arno River in a perfect location. We loved every minute of our stay. If you want somewhere stylish and comfortable in the heart of the city, this is it!

We visited in summer and there were two weddings while we were there. Lots of big groups stay at this hotel. There’s a $7 tourist tax per person per night, and water isn’t included. We didn’t realize that until we’d spent $50+ on tiny bottles, lol. Better to pop into one of the grocery stores down the street. Breakfast was okay. The rooftop is a nice quiet spot at sunset, and there was nobody up there when we went. It isn’t a bar. The hotel itself is great.

At reception, I had to explain to three different people who I was and that I had a reservation. The woman at the desk pointed to a monitor showing cameras and told me to stop there, without anyone showing me where that was. I had to go back to the car three times for our suitcases and to move the car, and nobody helped with anything. They told us check-in was at 2:30 PM, then we waited another 40 minutes while they cleaned our room. The bathroom smelled strongly of sewage, it was cold, and there was toothpaste on the sink. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. There are so many nicer ones around.

We had a great view from a really convenient spot. The staff were friendly, answered our questions, and arranged an airport pickup taxi. Breakfast was tasty and had a nice range of choices.

The rooms are huge, with very high ceilings, which makes sense in an old castle like this. Staying here feels like being in a palazzo. It costs a little more, but I think it’s worth it, and I’d definitely come back.
