It was closed, and nobody picked up the number posted on the sign. I also didn’t get the sense there was much interest in making this property, renovated with community funding, available to the community.

You can visit for free by appointment on the first Monday of the month, and it’s well worth seeing. The palace dates to around 1519 and was built by Niccolò da Uzzano. The Capponi family took it over in 1539 and still live there. Inside, the courtyard reflects the shift from Gothic to Renaissance style, and there are many artworks as well as an important private archive. It was also a filming location for Hannibal.
