The room was so dirty that my wife was shocked when we arrived. There was no service at all, and she had to book somewhere else because even getting into the room felt like a nightmare. The price may look tempting, and the location probably helps attract bookings, but this was the worst place ever. Better to pay a few euros more for somewhere better. Avoid it.

There was no one around to ask for help because check-in is self-service. The room was hot, had no windows, and though there was an air conditioner, I couldn’t turn it on or find its remote despite trying several times. It smelled strongly of mold, with air fresheners scattered around to cover it, and there was visible black mold in the shower. I have asthma and was very concerned. The room I got in September was dirty, with dust and dirt on the floor, and was significantly different from what the Il Pitti website showed. I had to find another hotel that evening. The booking was nonrefundable, so now I’m disputing the charge with my credit card. I regret booking here and wouldn’t stay. Don’t book this place.

The only good thing about this hotel was its location. We stayed two nights, kept trying to contact them, and never got a reply or any help. After all our calls, they seemed content to leave us without access to our room. When we first arrived, the keys left for us wouldn’t open the hallway door. We called the number we’d been given eight times. Six times we were told someone would come within ten minutes, and twice they hung up on us. After several hours, a resident let us into the hallway. The photos show some of the issues, but not the strong musty bathroom smell, the broken air conditioner, or that there were no bed blankets, only a sheet. I’d still like to speak with any on-site staff who might show up.

Being able to walk to all the main sights and come back to rest whenever we needed a break made the location a real plus. The hotel is close to everything in Florence, and we found it comfortable and good value. There’s no regular reception desk, so it’s worth trying to check in early. The self check-in instructions were clear, and staff communicated really well. They were responsive and helpful throughout. We’d happily stay again and recommend it to anyone visiting Florence.
