The free breakfast, coffee, tea, and limoncello were a lovely touch. The room was lovely too, and the hotel is right in the heart of Florence, about two minutes from Palazzo Vecchio and Ponte Vecchio and five minutes from the Duomo. Thanks for making my first visit to Florence such a delightful one.

The room felt unusually spacious for Europe, and its high ceiling helped. The bathroom was roomy too, with a heated towel rail, though the large shower spilled water onto the bathroom floor. Its window looked onto the alley, which made us feel a bit exposed at night; the clear glass door had an opaque curtain for privacy. Breakfast was lovely. The square has a market feel, with vendors rolling carts over the cobblestones morning and evening, and musicians playing in the evenings. Just be aware there’s no lift.

The location worked well, with plenty of things nearby. We had a problem with one of the bathroom sinks, and getting around the building is difficult: it has three flights of stairs and no lift. The person at the front desk didn’t offer to help with our luggage. It’s an okay place, neither special nor terrible.

The Porcellino had such a fun, eclectic feel, and I loved our stay. There was a great market selling leather goods and other things right outside during the day. It got a little noisy outdoors, but that was part of the charm. At night we opened the windows and listened to talented buskers singing opera below.
