The reception staff seemed friendly and helpful, but their hours were strict and the hotel doesn’t offer 24-hour service. We had to walk up two or three flights of stairs with heavy luggage, which wasn’t ideal but was manageable. The entrance can be hard to find with Google Maps, so read the hotel’s directions carefully. It’s in a central part of Florence, about a 10-minute walk from the dome and near several bars. There’s a bar next door open until 3 am. We could hear noise, but it was isolated enough that it didn’t disturb our sleep too much. Our bedroom and bathroom were separate rooms with different keys. The bedroom smelled strange and wasn’t clean: we found an old vape under the bed. I still don’t know what caused the smell. The bathroom was worse, with a moldy smell and visible mold everywhere. It simply wasn’t usable, and I wouldn’t have stepped into that shower. The hotel helped us find a garage for our car, which is necessary because the property is in the LTZ, where driving without arranging a garage can mean a city fine. We stayed one night in July 2025 during the week, so noise may differ on weekends. If we’d stayed longer, I would have left early to find somewhere else. If hygiene standards don’t matter to you and you just need a central place for one night, you could choose it. Otherwise, I strongly recommend staying elsewhere.

The staff are in the location on the first floor, to the left of the huge old front door near the beautiful garden. They’re friendly and happy to help. Send them your ETA and they’ll message directions, so it helps to follow those carefully. This old hotel is beautiful, the rooms are huge, and the whole place has an ancient feel. Yes, there are stairs, but walking up to the room feels epic and historic. I spent a couple of days here in Spring with my husband, and we plan to come back in the fall of 2026. There are two excellent restaurants right next door, and the attractions are close by. I’m not sure why this place has so many terrible reviews. I highly recommend it for a pleasant stay.

The only good thing was the location. We couldn’t sleep because of the bar on the street: the noise came through even with the windows closed. The room was small and didn’t look like the pictures on Booking.com, and there was a lot of dust under the bed. The city tax was extremely high at 7 EUR per person per night. Staff were only available from 3-6 pm. If you wanted to check in later, they charged an extra 30 euros per person in cash, which made our itinerary very limited. The personnel were rather impolite and unhelpful. Worst of all, guests in a neighboring room were robbed. Their door was damaged and the room was left in a huge mess. We were scared, but nobody from the accommodation told us what happened or took steps to make us feel safe. This was the worst treatment I’ve experienced. A nightmare of a stay.

The location was excellent, and the room itself was fine and quite spacious. It had noise-reducing windows, but a theater and bar directly across the road kept thumping loudly into the early hours. Check-in was so stressful it nearly ruined our Florence stay. The place was almost impossible to find, and when we did, we faced a large locked door with reception elsewhere. Thankfully two fellow Australians going in helped us, as reception wasn’t answering calls. They showed us where reception was, and we eventually got sorted. We hadn’t expected our private bathroom to be outside the room. The check-in instructions were unclear, and the place felt more like a boarding house. I wouldn’t recommend it.

For what I paid, I expected more. The room felt dirty and had no character, the mattress on its wooden slat base was unsupportive, and the fridge didn’t work. My room wasn’t serviced daily, the safe was broken, and reception wasn’t at the hotel. There were only four sachets of instant coffee for a three-night stay, with no milk or whitener, and one light wouldn’t turn off. Heating was switched off after 15 April, even though it was cold and raining. There are three flights of stairs to the first floor and no lift. Things could all be so much better.
