Residenza Florentia

The place was safe and clean, but way too expensive for what it was. Two days before our trip, we found an Airbnb right by the Colosseum for the same price. It had a bedroom, bathroom, small balcony, huge fridge, cozy little kitchen, and a living room. The bedroom there was as big as our entire hotel room, bathroom included. For that price, there are better options with more going for them than just the location and being near the train station. Nothing special, and I can’t figure out why it costs so much 🤷‍♀️

We got a friendly welcome and clear instructions, and they were very quick to reply on WhatsApp. They can also arrange taxis from the hotel or elsewhere back to the hotel if you send your exact location. There’s even a really cute dog there, I’m going to miss it. The room’s small but cozy, with a lovely bed and a spacious shower area. The air conditioning started leaking after we checked in, but they responded quickly and had it fixed in under an hour.

The room was clean and felt safe, though it was very basic. Staff were attentive before and during check-in, and the location near the train station was handy. The downside was the bar below us: people were yelling drunkenly until 2 am on a Tuesday.

The room was small but otherwise quite okay. The nasty surprise came more than eight months after we got home: following the staff’s instructions, we left our rental car with a local garage. They drove through a restricted zone, and we ended up with a hefty fine. When we contacted the accommodation, they said eight months later that they needed the garage receipt. Between the costly garage and the fine, this was expensive. Don’t get fooled!
