Residenza Oltrarno

Our taxi pickup fell through during a strike, and Filippo kindly collected us from the airport in the middle of the night. His help with our Florence plans was just as good. He suggested changes to our itinerary, and with over six bnb and homestay stays in Europe behind me, I’d put him among the best hosts I’ve had. The apartment felt warm and lived-in, with antiques and rustic furniture. It was spacious, attractive, and well maintained. The rooms were clean, the kitchen had plenty of crockery and cooking utensils, and the bathrooms were roomy and well stocked. There’s a grocery shop, cafe, bar, several places to eat, a bus stop, and a pharmacy very close by.

We had a short but lovely Florence stay. The apartment was roomy, had everything we needed, and the air conditioning in the room worked well. Our host was friendly, funny, and full of useful tips. Breakfast at Pegasus down the road came with two pastries, both really tasty. We also tried the recommended restaurant and enjoyed the food, which was excellent without being too expensive.

There’s a supermarket and a small bar with live music right across the street, and the area has a nice balance of activity and quiet. You can walk to Florence’s sights in a short time. Residenza Oltrarno is a huge apartment with everything a guest could need, so it works especially well for a large group. Filippo was helpful, handed over the keys, and left us to enjoy the place until checkout. I’d likely come back next year or the year after.

The apartment was clean and charming, and the bakery breakfast included with the stay was very good. Filippo was kind and gave us useful explanations about places to visit in Florence. I’d recommend it wholeheartedly.
