Room Mate Luca, Florence

I was impressed by Room Mate Luca from the start. I’ve stayed in quite a few places and can be picky, but this one beat my expectations. The team’s warmth stood out most. Eleonora, Sara, Erida, and Augusto were wonderful every time I interacted with them, and they helped me sort out reservations and a medical appointment. The hotel’s tucked-away feel was welcome after full days out, even though it’s around a 12-15 minute walk from the things you’d want to see. I loved the decor and the breakfast, which runs until noon. Checkout is at noon too. There’s a laundry mat next door and a wine bar across the street. My single twin room gave me more space, and I could open the windows. The bed was firmer than I like, but that’s just my preference. I’d stay here again when I’m back in Florence.

The next evening, I found a flower and an elegant birthday note in my room. The hotel management had remembered my birthday. I learned the breakfast server’s name, Meriam, the following morning when I told Antenollo about what she’d done. On March 22nd, I’d come down wearing a birthday crown, and Meriam noticed and wished me a happy birthday. While I ate, she took the initiative to bring me a cupcake with a candle and sing to me. I was genuinely moved to tears of joy by the surprise. It’s rare to find hotels where both staff and management care so much about making guests happy. Highly recommended.

The morning buffet was amazing, and the location and service were both fantastic. We had a standard room, with a big comfortable bed and window doors that opened out to the city. The bathroom was very small, especially the shower, and the TV wasn’t smart, so streaming wasn’t possible. We’d come back, but choose a deluxe room for a bigger, more normal-sized bathroom.

The rooms are small, but the design is lovely, and everything felt new and very clean. Staff were kind and helpful, and I really appreciated the room category upgrade. Breakfast was great, with plenty of choices and delicious coffee. It’s a handy base for seeing Florence on foot, about 10-15 minutes from both the station and the town centre.
