The staff were warm, welcoming, and very helpful. The shared lounge and kitchen stay open 24/7, so you can always get water, coffee, or snacks. The location is handy, especially if you want to be close to the station. Getting to the hotel means climbing four flights of stairs. My room was above the common room, and I could hear everything happening below. The stairs to my room were poorly lit at night, with two low beams that I had to watch my head around. The room was tucked under the rafters, cozy but not suitable for anyone over 5’10”. It had a small skylight for light and air, but no other windows. It was nicely appointed, though cramped, and the shower was impossibly small even for someone relatively thin.

Antonio and Leo carried our heavy bags up several flights of stairs, and their warm welcome helped make Florence feel like home. The open kitchen, available 24/7, was another lovely part of the stay. Antonio was kind and full of useful information. What a wonderful boutique experience. We can’t wait to return. Thanks, Antonio and Leo!

We were first-timers in Italy, and Antonio Tavera made our trip special with his warmth, hospitality, and knowledge. His tips helped us find hidden gems as well as must-see sights around Florence. Home Boutique Santa Maria Novella is right in the heart of the city, near the iconic Santa Maria Novella church. Our room was cozy, stylish, and decorated with a touch of Italian charm. We also loved the breakfast spread, especially the fresh pastries and local specialties. It was the highlight of our unforgettable trip, and we’d absolutely return. The staff were friendly, and most historic sights are around 10-15 minutes away. The train is only a few minutes from this well located place. A couple of things to know before booking: the building is 500 years old and has no elevator, so expect stairs every day. Our shower was extremely small, about 2'x2', and the door opening was so narrow that I had to squeeze in and out.

The management told us to take the room or leave when we raised concerns about black mold, and we were never offered another room. They then said, “Good luck getting a refund.” They already had our money and showed no interest in accommodating us. The room had black mold, and the building was dirty from the entrance to the fourth floor. The employees looked unwashed, the breakfast area was still unclean after noon, and it was very noisy while we were there. There’s no sign on the outside to show that a hotel is in the building. The mold needs to be fully removed or sealed and covered. One word for this place: nightmare. Find an honest hotel; there are many nearby.
