We only stayed one night, and a lot of the problems didn’t become clear until late in the evening, after we’d dropped our bags and gone out. Check-out was at 10:30, but cleaners were banging around loudly from 08:30, seemingly trying to wake us. They attempted to come into our room at 10:00 and usher us out. Please avoid this place. There’s no front desk or staff on site, despite what other websites say, just a number to call. It isn’t really a hotel, despite the name, but an apartment the owner split into B&Bs. There wasn’t breakfast either. Our room was filthy. There were hairs from previous guests in the bedding, stains on the sofa, floor, and throughout the bathroom, and mould in the bathroom that was hard to see because the window was covered. The room had no natural light. I felt like I was sleeping in a Monet painting, if Monet painted with bodily fluids. We paid extra for a superior room, but I’m not sure what was superior: the garden furniture, the view of the flat’s exposed utility pipes, or the kettle? It was in a shared kitchen, with no milk, tea, or coffee. The photos look several years old, with the brightness and contrast turned up to disguise the current condition. The bed was two singles pushed together, not a double. The pillow was as supportive as a wet napkin, so thin we had to use cushions from the sofa. We were bitten while asleep, and had to sleep among other people’s hairs. The bed...? I only booked it for one night and didn’t spot many of these problems until it was too late in the evening. Don’t make my mistake of giving it the benefit of the doubt just because a handful of reviews say it’s okay.

I was so relieved to check out. The bathroom was disgusting, and the water in the sink, shower, and toilet made me gag. The bed was okay but sagged in the middle and felt like it was falling apart. Mosquitoes kept biting me, and I woke up several times during the night. There are a lot of stairs, probably about three flights, and no elevator. For the price, which isn’t cheap, it wasn’t worth it. I should have paid extra for somewhere more comfortable in Florence. Don’t make my mistake.

We stayed on 8 June 2025, day 2 of 16. It was a very pleasant stay, and our experience was closer to the Agoda score of 8.1 than Google’s. The room was spotless and spacious enough for our family of four. The location is excellent, just around the corner from the train station, with supermarkets along the way. They let us check in early and leave our luggage, which was convenient. The door was opened as soon as we arrived, and checking out was seamless. I’m not sure why the ratings vary so much.

There were so many mosquitoes. I caught four, but there were more. The blanket in the room came apart into three sections and wasn’t good quality. I wouldn’t really call this a hotel, more like a place that has rooms. The water had a strange, quite bad smell, and I still felt unpleasant after showering.

There was nowhere to hang towels in the shower, and the shower itself was so tiny that washing was a struggle if you’re taller than 1.70. In mid-August’s high temperatures, having no small fridge in the room meant we couldn’t keep cold water, which was unacceptable. The sofa was extremely dirty. It felt as if the owner hadn’t tried to make guests comfortable and had just put a bed and air conditioner in one big room.
