Villa Alle Rampe

The location was decent, away from the busiest traffic but near bus stops, restaurants, and bakeries. Parking is available, which is a real plus around here if you’re renting a car and want somewhere safe to leave it. Check-in was easy, the host answered questions quickly, and both inside and outside were clean and well maintained. The kitchen had everything we needed. The stay was otherwise quiet, apart from the old house creaking. The house is older, with wooden floors and original windows, doors, and locks. Everything was very loud, so getting up or moving around could wake someone else. Even the bed creaked when you shifted or got up. It was one of the firmest beds we’ve tried, though it might suit back sleepers, and there was only one very flat pillow. For stays of up to four days, they provide one towel per person. That felt a little unsanitary, especially since the towels wouldn’t dry in the room. Ours stayed wet for all three days because there was no ventilation. We kept the windows closed due to mosquitoes and security, and it seemed humid during our late April stay. You have to ask for the air conditioner remote. I guess they expect guests to adapt to the conditions, though I understand they’re trying to keep electricity and other overhead costs down.

The rooms were a good size, and ours had its own bathroom. The air conditioning was really useful in the heat, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel hadn’t received our booking information, so they weren’t expecting us when we arrived, but they were gracious and made sure we got the room we wanted. It’s a great location, a short walk from the center and many of Florence's sights. I’d recommend it.

Breakfast comes with hot coffee, milk, juice, yogurt and pastries. The host was kind and quick to respond, and check-in and checkout were easy. The room felt clean and cosy, and the building is lovely in a quiet neighborhood.

I was in town for a wedding and found it easy to get back to this peaceful, very clean place. The private room had just the right amount of storage for settling in.
