Villa San Nicola B&B

Some rooms, including mine, are in the basement, which is also used as a cellar and garage. The room was spacious and spotless, but the furniture looked like it was from the 1980s, apart from the bathroom. There was just a ceiling fan, no air conditioning. The beds were large, but by morning the sheets were wrinkled and tangled. Breakfast was sparse. Fruit was available only if you asked, and only instead of a hot drink. The staff seemed distant and unhelpful, except that they did give my father a little ice for his sore knee. At checkout I asked for shower towels to use and return that afternoon, but they said no because the rooms were going to be completely changed in the morning. They could at least have left us one. A disappointing stay, and I won’t repeat it.

We were only there for one night, my son and I, during a motorcycle tour. The owners were very accommodating and made us feel at home. We slept really well, without any disturbances, and the beach is an easy 8-minute walk away. Breakfast under the umbrella in a shady spot on the property was superb, with biscuits, warm croissants, jam and more. See you soon.

It’s a peaceful spot among detached and semi-detached homes, with welcoming service and a varied, generous breakfast. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, the bathroom works well, and the air conditioning is adequate. The sea is about 10 minutes away on foot or 5 minutes by bike, and the city center is a 15-minute walk. I’d recommend it for longer stays too, including environmentally friendly ones.

Franco and his wife were so attentive and caring, and all the staff were kind. The B&B was spotless, and the food was delicious. We spent a wonderful week there. It’s quiet even though the center and both public and private beaches are about a 10-minute walk away. A good base for seeing much of Tuscany. We’ll definitely come back.
