Villaggio Mare Si

We had a really fun, relaxing holiday. The apartment was clean and a good size, with a little garden that I’m not sure anyone actually uses. It’s very close to the beach and the restaurants along the waterfront, with Caribia’s great ice cream among my favorites. Town is farther away if you need to do a big shop. There’s a railway line nearby, but the train passes quickly and quietly enough that I didn’t find it annoying. It’s fenced off and far enough away that safety wasn’t an issue. The beach is about a five minute walk away, with clean toilets and tasty little meals at the mini outdoor restaurant. The entertainment team runs fun games there in the morning. The sea isn’t as clear as the Caribbean, of course, but it’s still lovely and warm, and the beach is beautiful. Mare Si’s pool is big, clean, and relaxing, with comfortable, clean sunbeds. It gets lively in the afternoon, while mornings are quieter. From 12:00 to 15.00 it’s VERY quiet, since everyone is eating lunch. You can see the pool being cleaned each evening. I did notice a little rust low down on the wall at the deep end, which was a bit off-putting. There’s plenty to do each day, including table tennis, darts, volleyball, football, tennis competitions, and silly games. The entertainment team is friendly. Shows and dancing take place every night in the piazza, though they’re in Italian, so you won’t understand everything if you don’t speak it. The games room has machines and air hockey, which is fun, but one machine wasn’t working. Please fix it! Mare Si’s restaurant is really good, with à la carte dishes and a very tasty buffet at a good price. We also drove to the beautiful Saturnia hot springs, about 1 hour 20 mins away, and they were SO WORTH IT. The Tuscan hills are beautiful too.
