Hotel Milano

We booked through the hockey program and found the hotel to be good value. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a great view. The modern, minimal style suited us, and the food was good, home-style cooking. Staff were quiet and friendly. Downtown and Lake Smeraldo are about a ten-minute walk away. I’d recommend it.

The staff were the best part of our five-night full-board stay for an ice-skating camp. Everyone was helpful and friendly, and the manager was attentive and open to feedback. The facilities and rooms were very clean. It’s also well placed for the rink, just a two-minute drive, and near the lake, with a beautiful mountain panorama from the terrace. The food was a huge disappointment. It was nowhere near what I expected to eat in Italy. The meals were the same each day, poorly cooked, bland, made with what seemed like cheap ingredients, and there was no variety. In a word, a fiasco. The restaurant didn’t cater for allergies or provide ingredient information. There were no vegetarian or vegan choices, and no warnings about lactose or gluten allergens. Guests could be put at risk, and this needs to be addressed immediately under EU food regulations. I’ve since seen many other complaints about the food at this hotel, but it seems the catering management hasn’t responded to them or considered the hotel’s reputation. It’s shameful to serve food like this and leave feedback about the hotel Milano’s catering unaddressed for so long. This could be a really great place to stay in Fondo, which makes the experience an even bigger disappointment.
